Houston, Fresno State to meet in Hawaii Bowl

Fresno State wide receiver KeeSean Johnson lunged for a touchdown against Hawaii at Aloha Stadium.

The other UH — the University of Houston — and Fresno State will meet in the Hawaii Bowl at Aloha Stadium on Christmas Eve.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.

Houston is 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the American Conference. Fresno State is 9-4 overall and finished 7-1 in the Mountain West’s regular season. Boise State defeated Fresno in Saturday’s MW championship game.

Houston returns to the Hawaii Bowl for the first time since the 2003 game. Hawaii won that game, 54-48, in triple overtime. The Cougars also played in the 1988 Aloha Bowl.

Fresno defeated Hawaii, 31-21, at Aloha Stadium on Nov. 11.
