The male suspect wanted for first-degree attempted assault at a city bus stop in Kaimuki was arrested this morning, according to CrimeStoppers.

Honolulu police officers located the man in Kaneohe at about 11:15 a.m. and arrested him on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault and three outstanding warrants.

CrimeStoppers, which put out an alert Thursday on the alleged crime, thanked the public for their assistance in finding the suspect.

The CrimeStoppers’ bulletin said that at about 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 21, the female victim was riding the No. 9 city bus near City Mill on Waialae Avenue when she was approached by an unknown male. The suspect began talking to the victim and tried to solicit her for sex, police said.

The victim refused and left the bus at the next stop. The suspect followed the victim off the bus, grabbed her, and attempted to sexually assault her, according to CrimeStoppers. The victim fought off the male, fled and contacted police.
