K-pop groups BTS and Black Pink are getting cred in the U.S. via Hollywood and a prime-time TV appearance on the American Music Awards.
BTS performed “DNA” at the AMAs on Nov. 19, bringing the house to a standing ovation.
Meanwhile, Black Pink gets a cameo in the new Batman movie “Justice League.” Black Pink’s music video, “As If It’s Your Last,” is played on a background monitor in Flash’s HQ when Batman goes to visit him. It turns out that Ezra Miller, who plays Flash (aka Barry Allen), is a fan.
Black Pink, a four-girl group, debuted in August 2016 and has been climbing the music charts with hits such as “Boombayah,” “Whistle,” “Playing With Fire” and “Stay.” The timing couldn’t have been better, as popular K-pop girl group 2NE1 disbanded in 2016, leaving a void that Black Pink quickly filled.
YG Entertainment managed both girl groups and has been very successful in the music industry with other artists, such as PSY and Big Bang.
