A 64-year-old Honolulu woman died Saturday after being struck by a vehicle exiting a driveway a day earlier in Kakaako.

Police said the woman was hit while walking southbound on a Queen Street sidewalk adjacent to the Hokua condo tower at the intersection of Queen and Ala Moana Boulevard.

The incident occurred about 9:05 a.m. Friday.

She was taken to a hospital in serious condition and died Saturday of her injuries, police said.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office did not immediately release her identity.

Woman found unconscious in house fire

Honolulu Fire Department personnel responding to a report of a fire at an Ewa Beach residence found an unconscious elderly woman alone at the scene.

The call was received at 7:12 p.m. and firefighters arrived at the Pupu Street residence within five minutes. After seeing light smoke emerging from the residence, firefighters entered the home and discovered the woman, who was unresponsive and had no pulse, according to HFD spokesman Capt. David Jenkins.

The woman, 90, was transferred in critical condition to an area hospital by Emergency Medical Services. No one else was in the residence at the time.

The fire, which originated in the kitchen, was brought under control by 7:45 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and damage estimates have yet to be determined.
