Hawaii soccer players Sonest Furtado and Raisa Strom-Okimoto were named to the 14-player All-Big West first team, the conference announced today.

Midfielder/forward Leialoha Medeiros was named to the BWC all-freshman team.

Furtado, a Waianae High product, led the Rainbow Wahine with seven goals and four assists. She scored twice against UC Santa Barbara to give her team its only Big West win of the season.

Strom-Okimoto, an Aiea alumna, led the team in shots as its focal point and had three goals and two assists on the year. She became the first Wahine player to be named to two BWC first teams. It was her second straight year receiving the honor.

Medeiros, a freshman out of Kamehameha-Maui, scored a goal against UC Irvine and started the last six games of conference play.

UH went 6-10-1 (1-6-1, last in Big West) in 2017 and did not qualify for the four-team conference tournament.
