Search continues for missing men, helicopter
The search continues for the fourth day today for two missing men who were aboard a helicopter that disappeared off of Molokai.
As of this morning, search teams have scoured approximately 13,000 square miles for advanced helicopter student Jeremy Dossetter, 27, of Haleiwa and instructor Oliver Kirsch, 25, of Mauna Loa Helicopters.
The men, aboard a Robinson R44 helicopter, were reported missing Monday night after the aircraft disappeared off of the northwest coast of Molokai.
With wind direction and ocean currents, the Coast Guard sought assistance from the Honolulu Fire Department to search the eastern coast of Oahu. The fire department deployed its Air 1 helicopter Wednesday to search along the shoreline from Diamond Head to Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay.
The Coast Guard’s cutter Ahi, MH-65 Dolphin helicopter, C-130 Hercules airplane and Maui fire ground crews are continuing the search today.
Fire Services Chief Edward Taomoto, spokesman of the Maui Fire Department, said Air 1 searched the northwest coast of Molokai this morning and has since returned to Maui.
