A 36-year-old man from Buffalo, N.Y., died from injuries received from a punch to the face that knocked him down, causing him to hit his head, a deputy prosecutor told a state judge Wednesday.
Deputy prosecutor Cheuk Fu Lui told Circuit Judge Colette Garibaldi that Dishaun Walton and Kentric Dunmore were acquaintances drinking at a bar in Waikiki Sept. 20 when they started arguing.
He said Dunmore, 39, got up and punched Walton causing Walton to fall over. Walton was transported unconscious to a hospital where he died Oct. 10.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner said Walton died of blunt force injuries of the head.
Lui told Garibaldi that Walton suffered severe head trauma and a fractured skull that caused his brain to bruise and swell.
Police arrested Dunmore on Oct.12 in Kaimuki.
An Oahu grand jury returned an indictment Wednesday charging Dunmore with manslaughter.
Garibaldi confirmed his bail at $150,000.
