Hawaii wide receiver John Ursua injured his right knee in a game between the Rainbow Warriors and the San Jose State Spartans.

The University of Hawaii football team will be without its leading receiver for the rest of the season after John Ursua was diagnosed with a torn ACL in his right knee, head coach Nick Rolovich confirmed.

Ursua suffered the injury on the first play of the second quarter in UH’s victory over San Jose State the past Saturday. Ursua, a third-year sophomore, underwent an MRI on Sunday.

There is no timetable for Ursua’s surgery. The usual recovery is at least six months.

Ursua is sixth nationally in receiving yards per game (111.2).
