Firefighters extinguish stubborn industrial plant fire in Kapolei

Firefighters extinguished a fire today at an industrial plant near Barbers Point Harbor in Kapolei.

The initial call came in about 10:05 a.m. with the caller reported burning coal or asphalt in the area of 91-550 Malakole St., said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Kevin Mokulehua.

Seven units responded and about 20 firefighters worked to contain the fire with help from workers at the site.

Firefighters used multiple hoses to shoot the fire, including from a tower truck with an 85-foot ladder and a basket.

Firefighters extinguished the fire at 12:26 p.m.
