A Kauai man was attacked Monday by a shark at a surf spot called Davidson’s in Kekaha, where a French visitor was bitten in April.
Mitch Milan was out surfing at dusk, about 6:45 p.m., when a shark bit his board and hand, said his wife, Sharon.
Milan was surfing with a friend, who paddled out to help him, but Milan managed to catch a wave in on his own and returned to shore.
Milan told his wife that the shark came up from underneath him, she said.
Milan is doing well, with his hand in a cast, Sharon Milan said.
On April 14, a 28-year-old man from France was bitten by what beachgoers thought was a 12-foot tiger shark.
The man suffered severe leg injuries and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
