Police opened two attempted murder investigations this weekend after one man was shot near Ala Moana Center and another man was dropped off at an Ewa hospital with stab wounds.
At about 1 a.m. Saturday a male was arguing with three males on Hopaka Street, Ewa of Ala Moana Center, when he shot at the other people, police said. One of the victims, a man in his 20s, was injured but was in good to fair condition, police said.
The suspect fled. Police opened a first-degree attempted murder investigation because the suspect shot at more than one person, police said.
At about 4:30 a.m. two unknown males dropped off a man with multiple stab wounds at The Queen’s Medical Center-West Oahu. The victim, in his 20s, was in critical condition and remained in the ICU on Saturday afternoon, police said.
Details of the two other males or of the victim were not available.
Police opened a second-degree attempted murder investigation.
North Shore brush fire burns 50 acres
A brush fire burned about 50 acres Sunday and caused traffic congestion heading to the North Shore after police closed Kaukonahua Road for firefighters battling the blaze.
The fire started at about 1:40 p.m. with an initial caller reporting a vehicle on fire and flames spreading to the vegetation, said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. David Jenkins.
About 30 firefighters responded with six engines, two tankers and a helicopter.
HFD Capt. Kendall Ching said firefighters saved multiple agricultural structures from fire damage.
He said the fire was brought under control at about 4:30 p.m.
Police closed Kaukonahua between Kamananui Road and Thompson Corner while firefighters worked at the scene. The road was reopened at about 5:15 p.m.
Heavy rain fell in the area and North Shore-bound traffic backed up on Kamehameha Highway during the road closure.
