Lanes of Ala Moana Boulevard from Queen to Piikoi will shut down on weekends

A portion of Ala Moana Boulevard will be closed in either the eastbound or westbound direction over the next six weekends of October and November, starting 5 a.m. Saturday, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Ala Moana will generally be closed from 5 a.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. Monday between Queen and Piikoi streets for repair work on the existing drainage system during the two months. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes such as Waimanu and Kona streets or Kapiolani Boulevard.

Lane closures are tentatively scheduled for:

>> 5 a.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. on Monday.

>> 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, through 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017.

>> 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, through 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017.

>> 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, through 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017.

>> 5 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, through 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017.

>> 5 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, through 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017.

No weekend closures will be scheduled from Thanksgiving through January 2018. The department provides a statewide list of road closures online.
