Isaac Mamea was fatally shot Sept. 20 in front of Maunakea Liquor & Grocery on Maunakea Street in Chinatown.

An Oahu grand jury has indicted a 22-year-old man who remains at large for murder in connection with a deadly Maunakea Street shooting in Chinatown.

The jury indicted Tiseya E. Puapuaga today on charges of second-degree murder and firearms charges in the death of Isaac Mamea, 34.

Honolulu police said a male suspect approached Mamea on foot and shot him multiple times with a handgun fronting Maunakea Liquor & Grocery store at 1161 Maunakea St. at about 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 20.

Puapuaga, also known as Ty Puapuaga, allegedly fled the scene in the white Toyota Matrix. Police said the vehicle was later recovered.

A bench warrant has been issued for Puapuaga’s arrest and his bail is set at $1 million.

Homicide Lt. Phillip Lavarias of the Honolulu Police Department said, “We’re looking at the possibility that he may have left the state.”

Police are coordinating with authorities in Sacramento, Calif. to help locate Puapuaga who previously resided in the city.
