Trump blasts media coverage of Puerto Rico

BRANCHBURG, N.J. >> President Donald Trump is criticizing the media and citing praise for the federal response to help Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. That comes after he accused the San Juan mayor of poor leadership and being unable to get workers to help Puerto Rico recover.

Trump says in a tweet that some on the U.S. territory “want everything to be done for them.” San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz declined to join the new war of words, but instead called for a united focus on the people who need help.

Trump is out with a series of tweets criticizing San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz for criticizing the Trump administration’s hurricane response. The major has accused his administration of “killing us with the inefficiency.”

The president is responding by citing what he calls “such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help.”
