COURTESY IOLANI PALACE
The Friends of Iolani Palace unveiled its new Liliuokalani Regina ornament to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the monarch’s death and the 55th anniversary of the commissioning of the Ceremonial Royal Guard. Its design draws inspiration from a uniform button that is part of the palace’s collection and dates back to the queen’s reign, with the letters “L” and “R” (for “Liliuokalani Regina,” the latter being Latin for “queen”) placed between a crown and open wreath.
