Speed may have been a factor in a motorcycle crash that killed a 33-year-old man Sunday in Nanakuli, police said.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified the motorcyclist as Michael Aken, of Waianae. He died of multiple blunt trauma, the office said.

At about 7:05 p.m. Sunday, Aken was driving a Kawasaki motorcycle north-bound on Hakimo Road when he struck a 2015 Ford pickup truck, police said. The driver of a truck, a 70-year-old man, was making a left turn from Kapiki Road onto Hakimo at the time.

Emergency Medical Services transported Aken, who was not wearing a helmet, to the Queen’s Medical Center-West where he died.

This was the 32nd traffic-related fatality on Oahu compared to 41 at the same time last year.
