Hawaii J20+ and The Interfaith Alliance of Hawaii will hold a free public forum, “Faith, Immigration and Solidarity,” from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Harris United Methodist Church, 20 S. Vineyard Blvd.
The forum will provide information on how people in faith communities and social advocacy groups can unite to resist new Trump administration immigration policies and provide support for neighbors, friends and family at risk of being detained or profiled, a news release said. Free parking and light refreshments will be available.
Panelists include state Rep. Della Au Belatti (D, Makiki-Tantalus); the Rev. Rona Mangayayam, pastor of Harris United; Imam Matiullah Joyia of the Missionary for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community; and Nandita Sharma, co-chairwoman of J20+ Immigration Committee and associate professor of sociology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The moderator will be Nathalie Rita, co-chairwoman of Hawaii J20+ Immigration Committee and a UHM graduate student.
