Hawaiian Airlines retained its spot as the most punctual domestic airline as 92.3 percent of its flights arrived on time in July, according to data released Thursday by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The state’s largest carrier easily topped runner-up Alaska Airlines at 85.7 percent. The national average for the 12 reporting airlines was 76.9 percent.
A flight is considered “on time” by the DOT if it arrives within 15 minutes of its scheduled arrival time.
In other categories, Hawaiian had the second-fewest flight cancellations with 0.3 percent out of 7,308 scheduled flights, fourth-fewest consumer complaints with 0.77 per 100,000 passengers and seventh-fewest mishandled-baggage reports with 2.58 per 1,000 passengers.
