iPhone addicts, get ready for the overdose.
First, preorders will be taken starting Friday for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Then on Tuesday, a new operating system and Apple Watch are out.
Preorders will start Oct. 27 for the X model, so named to mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. This is the now-famous $1,000 edition with all the hot bells and whistles. Delivery is Nov. 3.
The Ala Moana store has announced special hours, 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Sept. 22 when the 8 and 8 Plus will be in. Don’t just walk in without a preorder, though: “It’s going to be crazy,” one employee warned.
Southwest to bring a few seats to Hawaii
Given Southwest Airlines’s longstanding rep for serviceable cheap-seat deals, it’s easy to get excited about the prospect of adding the Dallas-based carrier to the runway lineup at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport as soon as next year.
Excitement fizzles, though, with airline consultant observations that initially, Southwest’s routine schedule would bring just 175 seats or thereabouts to the islands — not enough to touch off a fare-cutting match with other airlines serving the islands. Darn.
