YMCA, Pasha Hawaii, Stevedores to hold Harvey donation drive

The YMCA of Honolulu is teaming up with Pasha Hawaii and Hawaii Stevedores to host a community donation drive next weekend to help kids affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The team hopes to fill a 40-foot container that will be parked at YMCA Nuuanu from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16 and Sunday, Sept. 17.

Specific donations the YMCA is seeking include: new or unused sports equipment, outdoor and indoor play equipment, toys, books, games, craft supplies, LEGO and building kits, backpacks, stuffed animals and non-perishable snacks.

“The Houston YMCA really needs Hawaii’s help,” said Michael Doss, executive vice president of the YMCA of Honolulu. “We are asking Hawaii residents to consider making a donation of critically needed supplies in support of the thousands of children the YMCA Houston will continue to care for through their day camps and school programs.”

Pasha Hawaii has offered to deliver the donations to more than 30 YMCAs serving the greater Houston area on Monday.

Monetary donations can also be made directly to ymcahouston.org/blog/support-harvey-relief-efforts or by texting the word HOUSTON to 91999.
