Kakaako to get 3 new restaurants

Three new restaurants are coming to Kakaako, planned by the Aoki Group, owner and operator of Honolulu’s Doraku and Bluetree Cafe locations.
Founder Kevin Aoki will establish 1938 Indochine, featuring Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian cuisine; Qing Mu, a quick-service restaurant serving Chinese noodle shop foods, and Bluetree Cafe, at the Collection residential development.
Qing Mu and 1938 Indochine will be at the corner of Ala Moana Boulevard and Keawe Street.
Bluetree Cafe will face Keawe Street.
Aoki was chosen as restaurant development partner by Alexander & Baldwin.
“Aoki offers an inspired take on contemporary Asian cuisine that is appealing to residents who want distinctive dining experiences and award-winning food served in a comfortable atmosphere,” said Lance Parker, A&B Properties president, in a statement.

The restaurants are designed for diners seeking “ethnic, bold and adventurous meals delivered in restaurants that offer convenience and sophistication,” Aoki said
All three restaurants are expected to open in the spring.
There are two Doraku locations in Honolulu, while the Bluetree Cafe will be an expansion of the cafe concept operating at 1009 Kapiolani Blvd. Additional Bluetree Cafe locations are planned for 2240 Waikolu Way in Waikiki, and the Speed Shop at 720 Kapiolani Blvd.
