It was definitely good to see the ice broken. We’re referring to the inaugural win for the University of Hawaii Wahine volleyball team under new head coach, Robyn Ah Mow-Santos. Thursday’s win was a relief of sorts, seeing how Ah Mow-Santos is now responsible for a program that flourished for decades under storied coach Dave Shoji.
Shoji was in the stands on Thursday, cheering on his protege and the Wahine as they swept Western Carolina 25-15, 25-14, 25-13 on Day One of the 30th Hawaiian Airlines Classic at Stan Sheriff Center. Now that the ice has been broken, let’s warm up to a winning season.
