Aloha Stadium officials are hoping for the largest crowd for a Rainbow Warrior football home opener since 2014.
Aloha Stadium officials are hoping for the largest crowd for a University of Hawaii football home opener since 2014 when the Rainbow Warriors play Western Carolina Saturday.
“We’re looking at 25,000-28,000, hopefully,” stadium manager Scott Chan said Thursday. “We’re hoping people will come out and support this team,” Chan said.
Kickoff is 6 p.m.
When the box office opened today approximately 20,000 tickets had been accounted for, Chan said.
UH has not draw more than 18,500 for a home opener since 2014 when a game against 25th-ranked Washington attracted 32,197 to Aloha Stadium.
The low was 17,642 in 2015 for Colorado. Last year UH drew 18,427.

Chan is encouraging fans to take advantage of online ticket-buying options to minimize box office lines Saturday.
UH is offering a 50 percent discount on tickets for seats in selected areas of the stadium with the promotion expiring Friday at 11:59 p.m. Day of game pricing will return to regular prices, UH said.
Tickets may be purchased online (etickethawaii.com), through the Stan Sheriff Center Ticket Office, Aloha Stadium Box Office, Campus Center and by phone (944-2697).
