Flood advisory extended for Oahu
Heavy rain accompanied by thunder prompted a flash flood warning today for Oahu.
The warning was canceled shortly before 7:45 p.m., but the National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Oahu until 10:45 p.m.
At 7:37 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain over the central Koolaus and central Oahu, the Weather Service said. Rain was falling at a rate of half an inch per hour and slowly moving westward.
Oahu appeared to take the brunt of the rains in the main Hawaiian islands due to unstable weather conditions in the northeast.
The weather is expected to be better Wednesday but some rain will continue, National Weather Service forecaster Norman Hui said tonight.
“Things should be settling down,” Hui said. “We still have the tradewinds.”
