The Hawaii soccer team yielded an early goal and failed to find the equalizer in a 1-0 loss to Pacific on Thursday night at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
Pacific freshman Bryndis Run Thorolfsdottir scored on a cross from Samia Adam in the 10th minute to deny UH (2-1) its first 3-0 start since 2001.
Sonest Furtado led the Rainbow Wahine with five shots, including four on goal. Her left-footed tying attempt with 30 seconds left was saved by UOP keeper Regan Heslop, who stopped eight balls.
UH dominated possession in the second half and finished with a 17-9 shots advantage.
The Tigers (1-1-1), who went 1-15-1 last season, play Seattle (0-2) at 7 p.m. Saturday at WPSS. UH plays Seattle at 7 p.m. Monday to complete the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic.
