The body of a woman in her 20s was recovered by helicopter Saturday from a difficult-to-reach area along the shoreline in Hilo, firefighters said.
Firefighters arrived on scene near the 15-mile marker along Highway 19 for what appeared to be an apparent fall at about 1:20 p.m. and found the lifeless woman, Hawaii island firefighters said. Rescuers used a helicopter to retrieve the woman’s body.
Firefighters said the cause of the incident was unknown and it was turned over to police for investigation. Police did not immediately have information.
Firefighters did not say how they were notified of the woman’s body.
