It was another cosmic day last week at the W.M. Keck Observatory, where astronomers have concluded that four Earth-sized planets circle Tau Ceti, a star like our Sun, 12 light years away.
Every time one of these discoveries comes up from that Mauna Kea facility, advocates for the proposed Thirty Meter Telescope wonder how much more could be learned by that particular eye on the sky.
But don’t pack your bags just yet. The two larger planets sit at the inner and outer edges of the habitable (“Goldilocks”) zone, so they might not be so homey. Still, humanity can admire them from afar.
Walgreens’ corner a hotbed of investment
That giant Walgreens store, looming above Kapiolani Boulevard and Keeaumoku Street, has got a new landlord — Haeri Hacienda Plaza LLC, a Korean real estate investment company.
It’s the latest development, so to speak, for that busy corner of Honolulu. Another company has plans for affordable housing units above Walgreens’ parking garage, and other plans for a hotel and condominium tower next door.
If all this real estate action is any indication, Honolulu remains a good investment for developers with big plans.
