Hurricane Hilary weakened and Tropical Storm Irwin strengthened overnight, but the remnants of Greg are expected to deliver extra humidity to the islands.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service say we can expect the tradewinds to stick around for the next week, but humidity from remnants of Greg should roll in tonight and hang around through Saturday. Increased shower activity, mostly in windward areas, is expected to accompany the bump in humidity.

At 5 a.m., Hurricane Hilary was packing maximum sustained winds of 80 mph. Moving west-northwest at 10 mph, Hilary is 540 miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. Weather officials expect Hilary to continue on its current track, but to slightly weaken in intensity over the next few days.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the storm’s center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles.

Tropical Storm Irwin, however, clocked in with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph. Moving west at 2 mph, Irwin is about 1,080 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.

Forecasters say they don’t expect Irwin to change in strength for the next few days.
