Two men were injured Tuesday in a head-on collision near the entrance to the Koolau Center in Ahuimanu.
A 59-year-old man was critically injured when the 2011 Honda Civic he was driving crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into a 2009 Chevy tow truck driven by a 24-year-old man.
The Honda was headed northbound on Kahekili Highway and the tow truck was headed southbound when the crash occurred at 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Hui Iwa Street.
Police said that a 2016 Toyota 4Runner then rear-ended the tow truck. The Toyota driver, a 49-year-old man, was in stable condition, police said.
The Honda driver was taken in critical condition and the 49-year-old was taken in stable condition to The Queen’s Medical Center, police said.
But Emergency Medical Services, which transported the two men, described the 49-year-old’s condition as serious.
Police said it is unknown whether speed or alcohol were factors.
