Hawaii County police said a 22-year-old woman died Tuesday morning in a single-car crash in Hilo.
Police responded to a 5:41 a.m. call and found her 2004 Honda sedan, heading north on Highway 19, ran off the road at Nahala Street.
The woman was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 7:26 a.m. Police said excessive speed likely was a factor.
