Actor Dante Basco, best known for his role as bangarang-spouting, mohawk-rocking Rufio in the 1991 movie “Hook,” is headlining Ward Village’s New Wave Friday 5 to 9 p.m. today. Basco, 41, will perform slam poetry at MORI by Art+Flea’s poetry lounge at South Shore Market.
New Wave Friday is an urban market held on the second Friday of each month. Activities include guest DJs, keiki coloring, food trucks and cocktails, pop-up shops, ice cream making and more.
Basco, a California native, has appeared on numerous TV shows and done voice work for video games and animated series including “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “The Legend of Korra.”
