Coast Guard looking to identify owners of paddle board, dive float
The Coast Guard is asking for the public’s help in identifying the owners of a stand-up paddle board and a dive float and flag recovered in separate incidents on Friday and Saturday.
A concerned passer-by notified watchstanders at the Honolulu Command Center of a stand-up paddle board found washed up in Hauula, in an area fronting Mile Marker 22 on Kamehameha Highway, around 6 p.m. Friday.
A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was dispatched to search the area and local mariners were alerted to keep an eye out for signs of distress.
The board is brown, white and grey with a Jimmy Styks Beaver logo affixed to it.
On Saturday, a dive float and flag were found adrift and unmanned about two miles off of Sand Island.
The Coast Guard dispatched a 45-foot response boat and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to search the area. They were joined in the effort by personnel from the Honolulu Fire Department and Ocean Safety.
