KJ Harrison signs with Milwaukee Brewers
Kainoa John “KJ” Harrison, a former Punahou School and Oregon State baseball player, has signed a contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, his father Kenny Harrison confirmed.
Harrison was the Brewers’ third-round pick in last month’s Major League Baseball draft. MLB.com listed the slot value for the 84th overall pick at $666,000. Harrison agreed to a signing bonus of $667,000, according to his father.
Scott Boras, who represents many of baseball top players, is serving as Harrison’s adviser. “We left it in (the Boras group’s) hands and trusted their expertise,” Kenny Harrison said. “It was pretty easy for us.”
KJ Harrison signed his contract in Milwaukee today. He is assigned to Helena (Mont.), the Brewers’ advanced rookie team in the Pioneer League. Harrison, who was used as a catcher and first baseman at Oregon State, is projected to catch for Helena.
Harrison hit .313 with nine home runs this past season in leading Oregon State to the College World Series.
