A small-craft warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday as strong tradewinds buffet the state.
A high-pressure zone north of the state will generate wind of 23 to 35 mph and seas of 8 to 10 feet, the National Weather Service said.
The affected areas include the Kaiwi, Pailolo and Alenuihaha channels; windward Maui waters; Maalaea Bay; and waters to the lee and southeast of Hawaii island.

Woman is injured in shooting near Glenwood transfer station
Big Island police are investigating a shooting in Glenwood in which a 21-year-old woman sustained a bullet wound to her neck.
Police responded to a single gunshot fired from a white sedan near the transfer station at about 1 p.m. Saturday. Police later identified Eric Wilson Jr., 19, of Pahoa, as a person of interest in the case.
Police said the shooter fled in an unknown direction. Fire rescue crews transported the victim in stable condition to Hilo Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
The investigation is ongoing.

2 arrested in burglary after neighbor confronts suspect
A man and woman are in custody in a burglary case in Ocean View.
Police charged Nalu Elaisa, 21, with burglary, reckless endangering, terroristic threatening and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. He was being held Monday in lieu of $23,500 bail.
During the burglary on Paradise Parkway, police said, Elaisa was confronted by a neighbor who said he was going to call the police. Elaisa allegedly attempted to run over the neighbor as he fled the scene.
Police apprehended Elaisa on an adjacent street and found that the car was stolen. A search of the car allegedly turned up items taken in the burglary as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia.
A 31-year-old woman also was arrested in the case, but has not been charged.
Police Capt. Kenneth Quiocho credited the Neighborhood Watch program.
“Had it not been for the neighbors looking out for each other in Ocean View, this might have been another unsolved crime,” he said in a statement. “Neighborhood Watch works.”
