Lanai company seeks OK for $75M Koele resort renovation
Lanai Resorts LLC, which does business as Pulama Lana‘i, wants approval for a $75 million project to refurbish the 25-acre Lodge at Koele.
The application is currently before the Lanai Planning Commission, which will accept comments until July 5, the Maui News reports.
The Lodge, a Four Seasons resort, opened in 1990. Earlier this year, the Four Seasons announced it would redo the lodge with a spa and wellness concept.
The Lodge has been closed since January 2015, when its 102-room hotel was used as housing for construction workers renovating the Four Seasons hotel at Manele Bay. That $75 million project was finished early last year.
Work included the renovation of rooms, suites, lobbies, spas and restaurants.
A project overview says the number of guest rooms would be reduced from 102 to 94. Construction is tentatively set to start in December and be completed a year later.
