Las Vegas’ Stratosphere tower is changing hands.

Golden Entertainment, Nevada’s biggest slot-route operator, has entered into an agreement to acquire American Casino & Entertainment Properties, giving it control of the Stratosphere, Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, Arizona Charlie’s Boulder and the Aquarius casino in Laughlin.

Golden is also the owner of the huge PT’s bar chain, which operates more than 50 pubs and taverns throughout Las Vegas. The deal is expected to close this year.

Restaurant revamp: The Palms has announced its revamped restaurant roster. A new 24/7 coffee shop called Lucky Penny will open July 1. The Bistro Buffet will close a day earlier for a conversion to a “food hall concept.” And a restaurant called Social Table will open in mid-July in the space that used to be Hooters.

Summer display: The summer display at Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens is up. Billed as the conservatory’s first Italian-inspired display, it features 16-foot stone archways, multitiered fountains and a 20-foot lemon tree. The display is available for viewing 24/7 through Sept. 9, and admission is free.

Pedestrian protection: Spurred by the recent rash of terrorist-related attacks in big cities around the world in which motor vehicles have been used as weapons, Las Vegas officials have authorized the installation of more than 1,000 bollards (steel poles) between the Strip and sidewalks. It sounds like a good idea, but that’s enough for only about a 1-mile stretch of the Strip. The bollards are expected to be in place before the end of the year.

Question: I just found out that Casino Royale is no longer dealing 100x odds on craps. Who now deals the highest odds, and what is the multiple?

Answer: The odds bet on craps is a bet players can make after a point has been established that’s paid at true odds, meaning there’s no house edge on that bet. The Cromwell still deals 100x odds, available on minimum bets of $10.
