Police are investigating a rash of recent violent or armed robberies, including four liquor store robberies.
The cases are classified as first-degree robberies.
“Detectives are investigating whether the recent robberies are linked,” said Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman Michelle Yu.
Two males robbed a Kalihi liquor store early Wednesday morning.
One was armed with a “dangerous weapon” during the 1:45 a.m. robbery, police said.
Two women, ages 60 and 38, were in the store at the time.
On Wednesday, a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery in a Kailua liquor store robbery, but two men in their 20s remain at large.
In that robbery at 10:14 p.m. Sunday, one of the three men allegedly struck the 62-year-old male owner of Keolu Market with a bottle after the owner tried to stop him.
Two other Windward Oahu liquor stores were also robbed Sunday.
Victim hit during struggle with robber
A 44-year-old man was robbed Wednesday morning in downtown Honolulu.
Police said the victim confronted the robber, who was trying to take his property at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The men struggled for control, and the suspect hit the 44-year-old with a “dangerous instrument.”
The case is classified as a first-degree robbery.
Gunman threatens couple on beach
Police are looking for a man who robbed a man and woman at gunpoint Tuesday night in Mokuleia.
Police said the suspect was armed with a firearm and allegedly threatened a woman, 23, and a man, 24, and took their property.
The robbery occurred at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday on a Mokuleia beach.
Woman arrested in Macy’s incident
Police arrested a 27-year-old woman, part of a duo who allegedly robbed a Kaneohe store at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said the woman and a 30-year-old man were allegedly leaving Macy’s at Windward Mall with stolen merchandise, when one of them allegedly swung a dangerous instrument at a 32-year-old male employee and fled.
The woman was caught 45 minutes later, but was released pending investigation. The man has not yet been arrested.
The case is classified as a first-degree robbery.
City IDs motorcyclist killed Tuesday
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the motorcyclist who died Tuesday after an accident involving a vehicle in Waipahu as Michael Roe of Ewa Beach.
The 31-year-old died of blunt force injuries of the torso due to the accident, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
Police said Roe was traveling north on Leokane Street when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle heading east on Leonui Street.
He was taken in critical condition by ambulance to a hospital and later died.
Police said speed appeared to be a factor in the 10 a.m. Tuesday accident.
