Brewers pick Punahou alum Harrison in 3rd round

Punahou School graduate Kainoa John “KJ” Harrison was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the third round of the Major League Baseball draft today.

Harrison is a catcher/first baseman for Oregon State, the nation’s No. 1 team in college baseball. The Beavers will be playing in the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

Harrison is hitting .330 with eight home runs.

His father is Kenny Harrison, a former UH baseball player who played professionally in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ organization and in Japan.
