A 32-year-old man died from injuries he sustained in a hit-and-run crash in the Ala Moana area.
Paul I. Andrews of Honolulu died May 29 of blunt impact to the head in the collision with a Volkswagen car two days earlier.
At about 12:05 a.m. May 27, police said, Andrews was traveling Diamond Head-bound on Kapiolani Boulevard on a moped when a Volkswagen operated by a 46-year-old man made a left turn onto Atkinson Drive, directly in Andrews’ path.
He was thrown from his moped in the collision. Police said he was taken in critical condition to a hospital, where he died.
The Volkswagen driver fled the scene, but police located him later that day. Police arrested the 46-year-old man on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant and failing to render aid.
He was released pending investigation.
Man, 27, charged in stun-gun robbery
A 27-year-old man has been charged with allegedly using a stun gun to rob a 63-year-old man in the Diamond Head area.
Gordon R. Phillips Jr. was charged Friday with second-degree robbery and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
At about 5;35 p.m. May 27, police said, the victim accepted a ride from Phillips. When they reached the Diamond Head area, Phillips allegedly stole cash from him while using a stun gun.
Police said Phillips and the victim do not know each other.
Police located Phillips in Waianae on Thursday and arrested him.
