University of Hawaii freshman Lily Lowe tied for 16th in the high jump at the NCAA outdoor track and field West preliminary competition on Friday in Austin, Texas.
The top 12 qualified for the NCAA Championships set for June 7-10 in Eugene, Ore.
Lowe cleared the bar in her first attempts at 5 feet, 61⁄2 inches and 5-81⁄2, then missed on three attempts at 5-101⁄2. Ten jumpers cleared the height and Lowe was part of a jump-off among seven competitors for the last two spots. She didn’t clear 5-9 and fell out of the competition. Lowe was the fourth highest finisher among freshmen in the event.
