Three more cases of mumps were confirmed Tuesday by the state Department of Health, bringing the 2017 outbreak total in Hawaii to 42, the highest number in 16 years.
The latest confirmed cases are on Oahu, location of all of the infections except for one adult on Kauai, officials said.
Recent infections are linked to children and adults at the Job Corps Center in Waimanalo and Central Middle School, one of 10 schools linked to cases of the mumps, said department spokeswoman Janice Okubo.
The cases have been confirmed in children and adults, both vaccinated and unvaccinated. To date, none of the infected individuals has been admitted into a hospital, officials said.
