Firefighters contain slow, stubborn brush fire above Palolo
Honolulu firefighters and crews from the Department of Land and Natural Resources have fully contained a slow-moving brush fire at Waahila Ridge.
According to Honolulu Fire Spokesman Capt. David Jenkins, DLNR’s Division of Forestry and Wildlife reported the fire was contained at about 7 p.m. Wednesday. The brush fire that scorched about two acres did not pose a threat to any homes.
The fire department and forestry officials are currently coordinating to extinguish smoldering trees in the affected area.
Firefighters initially responded to the fire at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
