The Polynesian Voyaging Society’s “Malama Honua Fair and Summit,” a gathering to feature free public Hokule‘a canoe tours and exhibits plus a for-purchase ticketed speaker series, will take place June 18-20 at the Hawai‘i Convention Center, according to a news release from the group.

The exhibits will highlight the educational and environmental efforts of the sailing canoe Hokule‘a’s recent global voyage, the release said. Space will be limited, but the public can reserve a time slot for the canoe tours and get more information at www.hokulea.com/summit.

The summit’s June 19 speaker series will feature renowned oceanographer and National Geographic explorer-in-residence Sylvia Earle, explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau, Hokule‘a captain Nainoa Thompson and other prominent figures in ocean conservation.

Tickets for the speaker series are $100 if bought by May 15, and $125 afterward, according to PVS officials. They also can be purchased on the website.

The events will follow the Hokule‘a’s planned June 17 homecoming ceremony at Magic Island.
