Massachusetts man pulled from waters off Kauai, dies
A 69-year-old Massachusetts man died Monday after he was found unresponsive in waters off Poipu, Kauai police said.
Police identified him as Kenneth Shimomura.
Shimomura was snorkeling in shallow water at the eastern end of Waiohai Bay before he was found unresponsive at about 11:40 a.m., police said. Beachgoers brought him to shore, and lifeguards and firefighters administered CPR.
Paramedics took Shimomura to Wilcox Medical Center where he died.
