UH baseball drops opener
UC Davis amassed 14 hits and reached base in every inning for an 11-4 baseball victory over Hawaii in the first game of today’s doubleheader at Les Murakami Stadium.
The game was rescheduled as part of a doubleheader following Friday’s rainout.
Brendan Hornung allowed 10 hits and exited in the sixth with a 5-0 deficit, no outs and two runners in scoring position.
The Rainbow Warriors scored four runs in the sixth, including two on Eric Ramirez’s third homer of the season. But the Aggies added a run in the seventh and two each in the final two innings to move out of reach.
The ‘Bows had expected to face left-handed starter Robert Garcia, who was listed in the lineup card that was exchanged on Friday before the postponement. But UC Davis switched right-handed Justin Mullins in place of Garcia, forcing UH to go from a predominantly right-handed-hitting lineup to a batting order with four lefties.
