The bed is the most important object in your home, said Clear Englebert, author of “Bedroom Feng Shui” and “Feng Shui for Love & Money.”

Put more “power” in your power naps with proper positioning of your bed.

The bed is the most important object in your home, said Clear Englebert, author of “Bedroom Feng Shui” and “Feng Shui for Love & Money.” His advice for placing yourself in a position of power while prone includes:

>> Positioning the bed so you can see the doorway to your room.

>> Making sure the head of the bed is against a solid wall.

>> Keeping bathroom doors in master suites closed at night to prevent the “drain vibration” from affecting your sleep.

Of course, location of windows, color, texture, lighting and artwork also are important factors.

Englebert will discuss these and other aspects of bedroom feng shui during free talks at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Manoa Public Library and 10 a.m. Saturday at Hawaii Kai Public Library.

The Hawaii island resident has been practicing feng shui, the ancient Chinese practice of spatial arrangement and orientation to optimize the flow of positive energy, since 1995. A portion of book sales will go to Friends of the Library of Hawaii.

His talks will be followed by a book signing. Click here for more information.
