University of Hawaii junior Sarah Toeaina received the Rainbow Wahine basketball team’s Ah Chew Goo Most Valuable Player award at the team’s postseason banquet on Monday.
Toeaina, a first-team All-Big West selection, led the Rainbow Wahine with 13.5 points per game and averaged 5.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists. She started all 30 games and scored in double figures in 22, scoring a career-high 25 points against Long Beach State in UH’s regular-season finale.
Sophomore guard Olivia Crawford received the academic excellence and defensive awards. Sophomore forward Lahni Salanoa was named the team’s most improved player award and freshman guard Julissa Tago earned rookie of the year honors.
UH went 12-18 overall and 7-9 in Big West play.
