Brigham Young junior setter Alohi Robins-Hardy has been chosen to compete on the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team that will tour Europe this summer.
Robins-Hardy, a 2014 Kamehameha alumna, will play for the CNT-Europe squad, one of three volleyball teams within the U.S. Collegiate National Team program, that will play in the 13th annual European Global Challenge on July 11-14 in Pula, Croatia.
The team will also play friendly matches in Europe and train in Maribor, Slovenia.
Robins-Hardy is one of two setters selected to the 11-member roster.
“We’re thrilled for Alohi to have the opportunity to play with the U.S. Collegiate Women’s National Team over the summer and represent the USA,” BYU coach Heather Olmstead said in a press release. “Competing with some of the top talent from around the country will help her continue to grow as an experienced setter. That, in turn, will help her improve and prepare for the upcoming BYU season.”
Athletes were selected through the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts held March 3-5 in Colorado Springs, Colo., at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
Robins-Hardy is one of two high school volleyball players ever to make the All-State first team four years in a row. She was the 2013 Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State player of the year.
She has started nine matches and played in 124 sets in three years for the Cougars, totaling 839 assists and 234 digs with 36 total blocks.
