Chaminade men’s basketball coach Eric Bovaird has signed a three-year extension, CUH athletics director Bill Villa announced on Wednesday.
Bovaird has a career record of 89-76 during his six years at Chaminade, making him the third-winningest coach in program history. Under his guidance, the Silverswords have reached the NCAA tournament twice. In the 2016-17 season, the ’Swords were 18-11 and tied for fourth in the PacWest with a 13-7 conference record.
HPU softball splits doubleheader
The Hawaii Pacific softball team split a road doubleheader with the Academy of Art, taking the first game 13-3 and dropping game two 3-0 in Brisbane, Calif.
University High alum Brazzlyn Tovio-Asato led the Sharks (14-14, 7-11 PacWest) with a grand slam. Freshman Emiliee Leonard tossed a shutout in game two to avoid a sweep for the Urban Knights (14-17, 8-11).

Luana Moreno tossed a gem for the Silverswords (5-23, 3-15) in game one, allowing just three hits in a shutout. Gianna Gesler’s walk-off double gave the Argonauts (8-13, 8-10) the win in Game 2.
