Channing Tatum arrives at the 2nd Annual StyleMakers Awards at Quixote West Hollywood in November.

A busy summer for Oahu’s film industry means local casting directors are looking for all types of people to fill minor acting roles on multiple major motion picture projects heading to the islands.

Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy are the big names attached to “Triple Frontier,” an action movie from Paramount set in the South American jungle. Along with stand-ins and photo doubles for the film’s main stars, a variety of extras, ages 16 and older, are needed — athletes, farmers, men and women with weapons training, military and military spouses, street vendors, food workers, mixed martial artists, tourists of all ethnicities and Latino-appearing Spanish speakers are among those listed in an announcement for an open casting call this weekend.

Casting is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Olelo Community Media’s Mapunapuna studios, 1122 Mapunapuna St. No experience necessary; those who show up may be selected during the open call to audition for a speaking role on the project. (Be sure to bring a pen, sunscreen and something to pass the time while waiting in line.)

In addition to “Triple Frontier,” casting will also take place for a second, unnamed film that comes from a “very successful, long-standing franchise that has filmed here in the past,” according to casting director Katie Doyle. While she would not confirm the title, multiple online reports mention “Jurassic Park” will be filming on Oahu later this year.
